What is Steel Challenge?
Of all the variations of the practical pistol sports, the one thought of as the fastest is steel challenge. How quickly can you draw and shoot 5 steel targets? Well it seems simple enough but when you are on the line it takes discipline and focus. It often comes down to 100ths of seconds; it’s lightning quick action.
The match is highly spectator-friendly and the competition is easy to understand – it is all about the speed. And by maintaining consistent challenges from year to year, the competition lends itself to the notion of setting – and breaking – speed records, which greatly adds to the excitement for shooters, spectators and media.
Steel Challenge is a welcoming format for shooters of all types, skill levels and ages, and provides an excellent starting place for young or beginner shooters. Anyone can come along and enjoy the sport as a shooter or a competitor.

Ballistic Sports is proud to be hosting our first Steel Challenge Invitational on the weekend of December 2nd and 3rd 2023. We welcome shooters and spectators from all over Australia.

Located on the Victorian / New South Wales Border, Ballistic Sports is working towards becoming the home of Steel Challenge in Australia. Just a short 5 minute drive from Wodonga and 10 minutes from Albury. We have generous parking with powered camping grounds and showers available on location.
